Can’t Miss Strategies To Improve Your Social Media Marketing

By Brett Relander

It is not uncommon for startup businesses to have limited capital and resources in terms of being able to budget for marketing. As a result, marketing campaigns can quickly become stale and begin generating fewer results. If you are looking for a way to invigorate your social media marketing campaign, the following strategies can help.

Implement a Multi-Channel Social Media Marketing Campaign

Are you stuck using only one or two of the big social media networks, such as Facebook or Twitter? If so, you are not alone. Many new businesses launch their social media marketing campaigns using one of the big platforms. The problem is that they never evolve beyond that. If you feel as though you are stuck in a rut with your social media marketing campaign, branching out to other networks could be just the solution you need to liven up your marketing. Platforms such as Pinterest, Instagram, and even YouTube can all bring a different element to your social media marketing while allowing you to take advantage of the power of image and video content marketing. If you’re looking to go viral, consider taking advantage of SlideShare, which gives you the opportunity to share content and gain an audience through views, embeds, and downloads.

Recycle Content

Think you need to constantly come up with fresh new content to post on your social media accounts? Think again. According to a study conducted by Wisemetrics, a repost can receive up to 86 percent as much performance as the original tweet. Furthermore, while subsequent tweets receive a lower performance, even after six repeats, a retweet can receive 67 percent as much performance as the first tweet. Retweeting the same content up to six times could provide you with excellent mileage for the same content in less time.

Leverage Current Events

Among the most important considerations when developing content for social media marketing is content that is both timely and trending. Current events can provide an excellent source for this type of content. If you find that you frequently run out of ideas for content for your social media marketing campaigns, tap into the power of current events. In addition to upcoming holidays, consider topics related to any special events that may be coming up in the near future, such as the Super Bowl, the Academy Awards, etc. Also, consider special interest events that could be applicable to your industry or niche. Finding a current event that would be of interest to your audience, and then creating content around that event can be a great way to break out of the doldrums while increasing brand awareness.

Use a Personal Message to Share Content

Sharing the content of others can be a great way to publish content quickly, but it is also important to make certain you keep the focus on your brand rather than simply churning out generic content. An excellent way to do this is to add custom messages to any content that you share. Tools are even available to help make the process easier. Snip.ly, for example, gives you the option to shorten links and add custom messages to the pages you share.

Build a Valuable Content Bank

Once you have established a social media marketing presence, make sure that you are delivering true value to your audience. The more value you deliver your audience, the faster you will be able to grow your social media presence. At the same time, it is also important to make sure that you are maintaining a consistent presence. If you publish content for a few months and then stop, your social media presence will begin to diminish. In order to grow on social media, you must be continuously active. While everyone gets busy,  building a content bank with valuable content ensures that you always have content available that your audience will appreciate. Content could comprise of a variety of different options, depending on your audience and social media network:

  • Infographics
  • Blog posts
  • Videos
  • Pictures
  • Quotes
  • Jokes
  • Memes
  • Quick tips

Whenever you find content of interest, be sure to make a note of it so that you will have it to share in the future.

Continually working on your social media marketing strategy will guarantee that you do not fall into a rut while also helping to grow your online presence.
