How To Put Together The Perfect Small Business Instagram Profile

Perfect Small Business Instagram Profile

There are now almost 3 billion social media users in the world. If you’re a business owner, it’s highly likely that you’ve considered implementing a social media strategy. That’s because you’ve realized that a connecting with your customers in the digital space is no longer a luxury — it’s a necessity.

Although most businesses realize they need to implement a strong social media strategy, many don’t know where to start. Instagram may feel like the obvious choice for visual storytelling and brand-building, but with 500 million daily users, it’s a highly competitive space and it’s easy to get lost in the noise. It takes a lot more than aesthetically pleasing images to achieve success on the platform. Define your goals and key success metrics to ensure that you see significant ROI.

Now that you have solid goals to work towards, how do you execute? The process is easier when you break it down into three parts: your bio, your content mix, and your engagement strategy. These three pieces work together to create the perfect branded Instagram profile.

Your bio should first and foremost tell everyone who you are. Show your personality with emojis, highlight your current promotions, and use relevant hashtags to your industry to boost your visibility. Incite customers to take action by including a link to your bio to drive followers to your site and increase traffic.

Curate your content carefully. Invest in quality photography, which continues to drive more engagement than videos, and add relevant hashtags to boost engagement. Consider leveraging influencers, as 30% of consumers say they’re more likely to buy a blogger-recommended product. And through it all, don’t forget to monitor what’s working and what’s not.

To maximize engagement, consider giveaways and user-generated content. Know the optimum times to post (generally Tuesday through Friday between 9am and 6pm). Don’t forget to include your location. Before posting, make sure the images you’re choosing are aesthetically consistent with the rest of your feed.
